Read these terms before you create an account. The registration checkbox is your agreement, including the sections on personal data. We record the version you accept.
Who we are
These terms are between you and The Student Industry Connect Ghana Ltd (“TheSIC Ghana”, “we”, “us”). They cover the website, accounts, internships, mentorship, industry tours, resources, and messages we operate.
They take effect on 8 October 2026 (version 2026-10-08). If you create an account on or after that date, we record your agreement when you check the box on the registration form. If you already have an account, these terms replace the previous ones from that date. If you do not agree, email info@thesicghana.com and ask us to close the account.
These terms explain the service we actually provide. They do not take away any right the law of Ghana gives you, including rights under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
Who may create an account
Students and mentors may register. Students include senior high school students, WASSCE graduates, tertiary students, national service personnel, and recent graduates. Mentors register a professional profile. Companies and other host organizations do not get accounts; TheSIC Ghana staff list their opportunities.
You must give your real name and an email address you can open. Students must also give a phone number, school or institution, programme, level of study, and nationality. The details must be true and kept up to date.
If you are under 18, register only if a parent or guardian has read these terms and agrees to be responsible for your use of the account. We do not collect a separate signature from that adult. A parent or guardian may email us to review or close the account. If we learn that someone under 18 registered without that agreement, we will close the account and delete the personal data we are not required to keep.
You are responsible for your password and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else is using it.
What the platform does
TheSIC Ghana introduces students to internships, mentors, industry tours, and career resources. You browse published listings and choose what to apply for or book.
- Internship applications, which our staff review
- A processing fee, charged only after an application is approved, to confirm that slot
- Mentorship packages with a named mentor, including sessions and messages for that mentorship
- Industry tour seats, at the price shown on that tour
- A yearly community membership, which unlocks mentorship booking, the resources hub, and internship applications when we require membership
- An introductory letter prepared from your profile for an application, and documents you choose to upload
We do not employ you, and we do not guarantee an internship, a job, a stipend, a mentor, a tour seat, or that a host will keep an offer open. The host organization decides whether to take you on, how the workplace is run, and whether you are paid. A mentor is not our employee. Your arrangement with a host or a mentor, once you are with them, is between you and them.
Personal data we collect
We collect only what the service needs. By creating an account you agree to the uses described in this section.
From students at registration we collect your name, email, password (stored only as a hash), phone number, school or institution, programme, level of study, nationality, city if you provide it, and whether you have a disability. The disability question is a yes or no. We ask it so staff can consider support needs. It is sensitive personal data. It is not published, and we do not send it to a host organization unless you ask us to share it so that a placement you applied for can be arranged accessibly. You can correct it by emailing us.
From mentors we collect your name, email, password, profession, field of study or research, and any organization, headline, experience, degree, city, or LinkedIn address you choose to add. The professional profile you publish is visible to visitors. Your login email is not published.
Later, if you use the features, we also store your applications, the CV and introductory letter required to apply, any other document you upload, mentorship messages, tour bookings, payment references, and notification preferences. Private documents, including CVs and identity documents, are stored as private files. Staff can open them only when their role allows them to review your account or application. A short-lived link is used to open a private file. We do not publish student CVs.
We keep a sign-in cookie so you stay logged in, and a second cookie used only to renew that session. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers on the public site. Our staff dashboard shows operational counts about the platform; that is not a record of your browsing on other websites.
Your rights over your data
You may email info@thesicghana.com to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to correct something that is wrong, to stop optional messages, or to close your account and delete your personal data. We will do that unless the law requires us to keep a record, such as a payment, a placement, or a fraud-prevention log. Those records are kept only for that purpose.
You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana. Nothing in these terms stops that complaint.
There is no control in the account screens for the disability answer collected at registration. Email us and we will correct it.
Your content and our content
You keep ownership of your profile text, messages, and documents. You give us permission to host them, show them to the staff, mentor, or host organization who need them for a feature you used, and store them with our file host, for as long as your account needs them. That permission ends when the content is deleted, except for backups that expire and records we must keep under the section on your rights.
You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload, and that it does not infringe someone else’s rights.
TheSIC Ghana owns the platform itself: the name, logo, site design, software, and the guides and pages we write. You may not copy that material for a competing service or remove our name from it.
How you may use the platform
You agree not to:
- Give false information or use someone else’s identity
- Harass, threaten, exploit, or discriminate against another person
- Upload malware or try to break or bypass the platform’s security
- Collect other people’s information from the platform, or use it for your own mailing list
- Present a paid or unpaid opportunity on the platform as something TheSIC Ghana itself is offering as your employer
We may remove content, suspend an account, or report unlawful activity to the relevant authority. For fraud, abuse, or a risk to someone’s safety we may do that without advance notice. For other breaches we will tell you the reason when we reasonably can.
Fees
Some features are free to browse. Paid features show the price before you pay. The price on the payment screen is the price for that payment. We may change prices for later purchases. Payments are in Ghana cedis and are processed by Paystack.
Community membership lasts 12 months from a successful payment. The current price is on the membership page. When membership is required, you need an active membership to book mentorship, open the resources hub, and apply for internships.
The internship processing fee is charged only after staff approve you, and only so you can confirm that slot. The amount is shown before you apply and again when payment is requested. Once that payment succeeds, it is not refunded, including if you later ask to apply for another internship before the waiting period ends. A failed or abandoned payment is not treated as paid.
Mentorship packages are priced per mentor and shown before you pay. If a session is cancelled under the platform’s rules, the session credit returns to your package. That credit is not a cash refund to your bank or mobile money.
An industry tour seat is confirmed when payment of the fee shown on that tour succeeds.
If money left your account but the platform still shows the payment as unpaid, contact us at info@thesicghana.com with the payment reference and we will check it with Paystack.
Messages we send
We email you codes to verify your address and to reset your password. Those messages are part of keeping the account secure, and they are not optional while the account is open.
Other email is on unless you turn it off in your notification settings. SMS is off by default, except community updates, which are sent by SMS until you turn them off. SMS is only used for application updates, mentorship, important notices, and community updates. In-app notices stay in your account either way.
We do not sign you up for WhatsApp broadcasts or marketing phone calls by creating an account. If you message us on WhatsApp or social media, that conversation is separate from these terms.
Limits on our responsibility
The platform is a place to find and apply for opportunities. To the extent Ghanaian law allows, TheSIC Ghana is not responsible for the conduct of a host organization or a mentor, for workplace conditions, for an injury at a placement or tour, for a host failing to honour what it told you, or for a service interruption caused by something we could not reasonably prevent.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, or any duty the Data Protection Act places on us, or any other liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.
You are responsible for information you submit and for documents you upload. If a claim is brought against us because that information was false or infringed someone else’s rights, you will cover the loss we actually suffer as a result.
Changes, suspension, and closing an account
If we change these terms, we will publish the new version on this page with a new date and version number. If a change affects how we use personal data or what we charge, we will also notify registered users by email or an in-app notice before that change applies. Use of the platform after the effective date means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, ask us to close your account before that date.
You may ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is used for fraud, or creates a risk to other people. Closing an account does not erase a fee already paid, or a duty that arose before closure.
Law and complaints
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. If a dispute arises, we will try to resolve it with you directly first. If that fails, the courts of Ghana may hear it.
For a question about these terms or your personal data, email info@thesicghana.com. You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana about how we handle personal data.
